20 metres for new format licence plates (eg ST09YDE)
20.5 metres for old format licence plates (eg X123XXX)
If your eyesight is not to this standard, then you will have to arrange an appointment with an optician. please be aware that your glasses will have to be worn any time you drive.

Select a comfortable pair of shoes- ideally something with a flexible sole. High heels should ideally be avoided.

What else can you do

Purchase the relevant literature- I can supply all the recommended books, including the highway code. You can start reading and learning now.

Start paying attention any time you are in a vehicle. Learn what the various controls do- don't worry too much about how you use them at this stage.

Whether you are in a vehicle or as a pedestrian, start paying attention to vehicles on the road. See if you can predict what they intend to do. You will get easy clues sometimes if the vehicle uses his indicators. Look for other clues like road position, speed and even where the driver is looking. Good anticipation skills are a vital part of modern and safe driving.
